Sondra Karman, BASI Principal Faculty

Sondra Karman is a distinguished BASI Pilates Principal Faculty member and an instructor with a rich background in movement and physicality. A professional classical ballet dancer for over 30 years, Sondra strived to maintain strength for performing with maintenance for a lifetime of physical health. Pilates was a perfect match for these needs. Sondra is known for her thoughtful, strength-based teaching style that emphasizes intentional movement. A qualification in Dance Medicine Movement Therapy has helped Sondra blend deep anatomical understanding with a passion for empowering others through mindful, transformative movement.
Jenn Coates, BASI Faculty
10+ years of experience
As a BASI Faculty member, Jenn facilitates teacher training throughout North America, mentors apprentice faculty, coaches student instructors, and works with clients here in El Dorado Hills. In addition to over 10 years of Pilates teaching experience, she has a degree in Kinesiology, a certificate in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies, and continues to attend workshops such as Power of Aging led by BASI founder Rael Isacowitz.
Through her employment as a Hospital Rehabilitation Technician and her experience in rehab for her own injuries, Jenn discovered her heart lies with injury prevention and helping clients achieve their goals through the power of Pilates. In her free time, Jenn enjoys aerial arts, lattes, and cuddling with her two cats.
Christina Matassa, Senior Instructor
10 years of experience
Christina is a certified BASI Pilates instructor. She has been teaching the BASI technique for 10 years. Christina began her Pilates journey after interning at a physical therapy clinic and seeing the benefits Pilates had on the patients. Her certifications include BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training, Pilates for Runners from APPI, and Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies from BASI. When she's not teaching, she loves spending time with her family, paddleboarding, and playing tennis.
Jaine Jun, Instructor
Jaine is a certified BASI Pilates Instructor and the first instructor ever to be awarded the BASI Pilates Academy Certificate of Excellence. Earned at the world renowned BASI Academy flagship studio from founder and director, Rael Isacowitz, the Certificate of Excellence formally recognizes Jaine's exceptional level of skill, knowledge, and passion as an instructor.
A talented artist with classical training in sculpture, Jaine views Pilates as both an art and a science with spiritual and psychological benefits being as important and powerful as its physical benefits. While her daily practice of pilates is her main exercise discipline, Jaine also enjoys a well rounded fitness lifestyle that includes sports interval training, kickboxing, yoga, and jazz dance. When away from the studio, Jaine enjoys alpine skiing, the outdoors, playing piano, and walking her dog, Chucky.
Malissa Turner, Instructor
Malissa is a friendly and dedicated BASI Instructor with more than a year of teaching under her belt. She has a certificate from BASI’s Injuries & Pathologies course and truly enjoys helping clients move safely and effectively. Working with people at all fitness levels is her passion, and she loves fostering a strong mind-body connection as she guides them on their Pilates journey. Watching her clients progress and grow in strength, mobility, and body awareness brings her so much joy and inspires her teaching every day!
Becky Dwyer, Apprentice
After 2 years of training as a client with BASI Pilates - El Dorado Hills, Becky is working toward becoming a BASI-Certified Instructor through their Comprehensive Teacher Training program and has earned a certificate in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies. She found BASI while on a personal health journey, seeking a highly structured methodology that could accommodate her specialized needs and physical limitations. After several months of working with the BASI EDH staff, she noticed a drastic improvement in her physical and mental well-being, which spurred her to revamp her lifestyle, prioritizing her health. She seeks to offer BASI clients the same enthusiasm for this practice that she has found and embodies empathy toward anyone struggling with their body or meeting their own fitness goals. Outside of the studio, Becky enjoys swimming, scuba diving, singing, and nature photography.
Reese Tibbetts, Apprentice
Reese is currently working toward BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training certification. Drawn to BASI for its methodology rooted in the classical principles of Pilates, Reese is passionate about helping clients deepen their mind–body connection, build strength, recover from injuries, and achieve their personal goals. Pilates has given Reese a deeper understanding of the body, which inspires a commitment to guiding others on their own journeys. Outside the studio, Reese enjoys the outdoors, long walks, baking, time with family, and her dogs.
Brandon Gamble, BASI Principal Faculty
25+ years of experience
Brandon Gamble is a respected BASI Pilates Senior Faculty member and instructor with a deep passion for movement, strength, and rehabilitation. With over 25 years of experience in fitness and Pilates, Brandon discovered the transformative power of Pilates through his own journey as an athlete and fitness professional.
He is known for his precise, strength-focused teaching style that blends creativity with care, helping clients improve performance, recover from injury, and cultivate lasting body awareness. Brandon’s background in athletic conditioning and post-rehab work allows him to guide students of all levels with insight, empathy, and a commitment to transformative, mindful movement.
